The Pièce de résistance of my shopping trip with hijabeng, who I think of as a friend AND as my “secret weapon” when it comes to jewelry.  This gorgeous beauty cost me $38.    It is a showstopper and I can’t wait to break it out.
I come from a culture with great traditions in handcrafts, metalwork & goldsmithing, embroidery, and couture-level sewing, and yet I have to say, the people of the (broader) Indian subcontinent have unparalleled achievement in metalworking.  Hats off, truly.    This is very affordable costume jewelry that has far superior metalworking (and I’d argue, design) than what you’d find at Cartier.   Think about that for a moment, dear readers.
