Olivier Rousteing’s second collection at Balmain confirmed that he’s got what it takes to man the helm of this storied Parisian brand. The silhouette did not change much from previous seasons- skinny, low-slung trousers/boxy jackets- but Rousteing played with some truly elaborate embellishments. Jackets, trousers and dresses were studded in criss-cross grids of pearls and rows upon rows of geometric motifs. Some had needlepoint florals embedded center front and back for a sweet touch. While this collection lacked imagination in terms of color (black, white, gold and teal was a rather staid palette) it certainly offered looks that the Balmain girl (and Emanuelle Alt) will love. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
